Featured in House Beautiful: When Texture Tells a Story
When House Beautiful published their feature on designer Amy Knerr’s Indiana home this fall, one line stopped me in my tracks:
“We wanted this space to feel like a big, inviting hug.”

That’s exactly what I think about every time we design at Principal’s Daughter—how texture, tone, and material can hold emotion. Amy’s use of bouclé, natural wood, and warm neutrals created a space that feels lived in and loved, and I was thrilled to see our bedding layered into that story.
A Shared Design Language
The home Amy designed isn’t grand for grandness’ sake—it’s personal. Every surface feels touched by care. That’s what drew me to her work: it mirrors what I love about design when it’s done right.
Our bouclé bedcover sits in the primary bedroom, grounding the space with the quiet kind of beauty I always hope our textiles bring—nothing loud, just texture, weight, and softness that invite you to exhale.
It’s that balance between refinement and ease that makes a home feel complete.
On Layering and Intention
When I look at this project, I see the same philosophy that guides our bedding:
Start with honest materials. Layer slowly. Let restraint lead.
There’s so much beauty in keeping things simple but sensual—crisp Italian percale sheets as the base, a textured quilt or bedcover for depth, a soft throw for warmth. Each layer adds dimension without clutter, so the final picture feels natural, not staged.
And maybe that’s the real story here: luxury as comfort, design as warmth.
Why This Feature Means So Much
It’s always an honor to be featured, but House Beautiful highlighting this particular home felt personal. It reminded me that our pieces live out in the world—quietly shaping how people rest, how they gather, how they begin and end their days.
That’s what I love about what we do. We don’t just make bedding; we make part of someone’s everyday ritual.
